My One Game A Month May game is just a very small space game made in a few days. I planned two games, realized they were too big and made an extremely simplified version of my third idea: Open space to fly around with the possibility to land on planets.

Ludum Dare 26

My entry for Ludum Dare 26 and also my One Game A Month April game: A Turn-based Fantasy Chess-like minimalistic game for two players.

Select your piece with a click (or tap) and move with another click to one of the highlighted tiles. You can see the healthpoints of your pieces on the right. Every piece does 1 damage if it reaches a taken tile, except the Wizard who does 2 damage. Your goal is to kill the king.

The Mage Dungeon

Kill all the mages who have taken control over the dungeon…

This is my One Game A Month game for March, a 3D fantasy action roguelike made with Unity. You can play it here:

In March I wanted to make a game in 3D. I had only finished a really small 3D game, but with Unity I was able to concentrate more on the game content. Programming with C# in Unity is very comfortable. I also managed to create my first animated model with Blender.

The first version only had one hand-made level. It was small and played through quickly. So I updated the game in April and added random levels (this helped getting started), more models to create nicer levels and a boss enemy.

The random levels have made the game a lot better, I like how it changed. Sadly, it is a bit repetitive even with the random levels, there are simply too less enemies, weapons and other items. But its great for one playthrough :)

Where The Fuck Is My Brain? Chapter 2

In February I only added a second chapter to my January Game, Where The Fuck Is My Brain?

You can now explore the alien ship and fight the big alien boss! I created new graphics for the ship and added features like platforms and the laser rifle. At the end you have to fight the boss, the alien attacks you with a laser, tentacles and it spits out small aliens.

My January game for One Game A Month. 2D Platformer made with Impact.

Somehow you lost parts of your brain. You wake up in an old castle, now trying to find your missing brain parts to regain your skills and escape…

#1GAM January: Test the new version

I uploaded a new testversion of my first One Game A Month game:

In this version, I implemented all features that were planned for the finished game (although I had to remove a lot, too less time). I am going to build the levels and the “story” next week, there is still a lot to do.

The player is able to learn new skills by collecting the brains. He can walk already and he can learn to jump, run, slide and shoot. This is only a test level, the finished game will have a lot more rooms, finding the brain parts and using the new skills to complete the levels is the main goal.

You can now look down and actually see whats beneath you before you jump. There are also enemies blocking your path, who will kill you if you touch them. But you can shoot now, if you didn’t forget to collect ammo. The enemy AI is fairly simple, but it’s enough to annoy you… I also added a new type of gates, which will close over time (but you can slide now).

Controls:

AD / Arrowkeys to walk
W / Arrow up to jump
Shift to run
Run + S / Arrow down to slide
Space to shoot
ESC to see your skills
